Here is some helpful information if you are ready to open your account:

When you apply online, you will need to provide information about yourself.

For a faster application process, please have the following information on hand when you begin:
  • Social Security Number
  • Valid form of identification (some examples are: Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID or Passport)
  • Current residential address and prior address if you have lived at your current address for less than two years
  • Your email address
  • If you are using an external account to fund your account with Sauk Valley Bank, please have one of the following: account/routing number, debit card or credit card

When applying online, applicants must be at least 18 years of age.  If you are not 18, please visit one of our branches for assistance.

We offer the option to apply for a joint account, and both applicants must be 18 years of age with valid identification.

Is my online application secure?

Yes, Sauk Valley Bank uses encryption for online security.  Encryption technology helps provide secure transmission data, protecting your information.

Why do you need my social security number?

We ask for your SSN to help verify your identity and, if the account in interest bearing, we must report interest earned on the account to the IRS using your SSN.

What information do I need to open a joint account?

You will need the same information that is needed when opening an individual account for both applicants.

How do I make an opening deposit for an account that I open online?

We offer a few convenient ways to fund your new account.  You can transfer funds from an existing Sauk Valley Bank account, you can transfer funds from an external account, you can use a debit or credit card, and you can mail a check.

How much can I deposit into my new account when applying online?

When applying for a new account, you can deposit the minimum opening deposit (typically $25), or more.  Please refer to our account selection page for more information on our product minimums.

When is the opening deposit processed?

Transfers from your existing account at another financial institution to your new account typically take 2-3 business days.  If you are transferring funds from an existing Sauk Valley Bank account, the transfer will occur in 1 business day.  If you are using a debit or credit card, the funds will be processed within 2-3 business days.  If funds are being sent to the bank via check, those will be processed as soon as they are received.

How do you send the account opening documents?

As part of your online application, you will be asked to give consent to receive certain account opening documents and notices from us electronically.  If you do not wish to receive these documents electronically, please visit any of our 4 convenient locations to apply in person.
